Bill and Eddye White Bowling Endowed Scholarship

Bill White, previous owner of Twin Star Lanes, was instrumental in the development of the first high school bowling league in the greater Portage County area. In 2010, Bill and his wife Eddye, further proved their commitment to area youth and education by creating a scholarship fund for high school seniors who are members of their varsity bowling teams.

Applications for the scholarship will be available on-line and made available to guidance officers at Rootstown, Crestwood, Garfield, Ravenna, Southeast, Streetsboro and Kent Roosevelt high schools (the schools that host a bowling team and compete in the OHSAA sport). Currently, the number of scholarships awarded total four, although the number of scholarships may vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $500.

Criteria

The applicant must be a high school senior currently on a bowling team. The student must hold a 2.5 cumulative grade point average (based on a 4.0 scale). The applicant must provide a copy of their high school transcript. The applicant must submit a two (2) letters of recommendation – one (1) letter from the bowling coach and one (1) letter from a teacher. Submit an essay not to exceed 500 words describing how competitive bowling made an impact on the applicant’s life – helping handle everyday pressures in bowling and in life. Applicants must intend to enroll in a two-year technical school or four-year undergraduate college program.
