Executive Director, The Portage Foundation, Portage County, Ohio
The Portage Foundation is seeking a dynamic, collaborative and experienced leader to build the capacity of the Foundation to inspire philanthropy, build endowments, impact causes and foster projects, and engage community leaders. The Executive Director will provide vision, leadership and direction and will work with the Board of Trustees to implement the Foundation’s strategic plan.
Key duties: Increase the capacity of the Portage Foundation to inspire philanthropy, build endowments, impact causes and foster projects, and engage community leaders. Oversee the Foundation’s planning, fundraising, grantmaking, donor relations, partnerships and operational systems. Work with the Board to develop strategies to achieve goals for organizational performance, with an emphasis on long-term financial stability. Serve as organization’s chief fundraiser and as the primary spokesperson for the Foundation in the community.
Key competencies: Demonstrated leadership success through strong communications skills, sound judgment, decision making and ethics; ability to collaborate and influence others; planning and execution of strategies; coaching and developing others; and being politically savvy.
Education and experience: Bachelor’s degree required. Five to seven years of experience in fundraising, community relations or related field desired; CFRE a bonus. Must have track record of success in developing and executing fundraising initiatives. Three years of leadership and supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with leadership volunteers highly desirable. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office and donor database software necessary. Familiarity with QuickBooks helpful.
Work environment and schedule: This is currently a work-from-home position with regular phone and video calls. Frequent in-person meetings at others’ offices or community sites will be expected. Minimal in-state travel. This is a full-time, exempt position. Regular workdays are Monday through Friday; hours will vary to meet work requirements. Must be able to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Job requirements: Must hold a valid Ohio driver’s license and must pass a background check.
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.
