George L. and Genevieve D. Moore of Aurora, Ohio, had a great love for young people and the Aurora community. Within their estate plan, the Moore Family Fund, now administered by the Portage Foundation, was established with a scholarship component and the following documented use of the trust (fund):
For young people with the intention that the income be used for public and charitable purposes in providing or subsidizing non-tax supported programs in the areas of educational, informative, and recreational nature for or on behalf of the young people of Aurora and neighboring communities.
In addition to supporting non-profit programs, the Moore Family Fund provides annual scholarships for Aurora HS seniors.
Proposal Guidelines
The George L. and Genevieve D. Moore Family Fund is administered by The Portage Foundation, with funds held at KeyBank. Both the Portage Foundation and KeyBank are interested in learning more about needs in the community and potential grant requests that relate to the use of this fund. Currently, Moore Fund scholarships are awarded to Aurora High School seniors who are pursuing their education beyond high school. We welcome additional ideas regarding potential grant projects that meet the guidelines of the Moore Family Fund.
The Foundation looks favorably upon requests which offer new approaches to solving community problems and/or create opportunities to collaborate, and that are sustainable.
Proposals must align with the guidelines established by the Moore Family Fund and will be reviewed with input from the Moore Advisors, the Portage Foundation Grants Committee, Portage Foundation Executive Committee and Board of Trustees and officers from KeyBank.
