Opening doors for women pursuing their next chapter
Helen Dix believed deeply in the power of education and its role in creating an informed, engaged citizenry. As the last surviving charter member of the League of Women Voters of Kent, she dedicated her life to strengthening the League and its mission in Portage County.
Established in her memory, the Helen Dix Scholarship supports non-traditional women students at Kent State University or Hiram College who are continuing their education, pursuing a bachelor’s degree, or returning to school to prepare for a new career.
The scholarship recognizes women who demonstrate determination, a commitment to their education, and a desire to become successful leaders in their communities and chosen careers—carrying Helen’s belief in the transformative power of education forward.
