The Portage Foundation awards scholarships from a number of endowed funds:

Douglas Cowell Memorial Endowed Scholarship

– Awarded to a Ravenna High School senior student who is an active member of the football team. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

League of Women Voters – Helen Dix Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a non-traditional female student – age 25+, US citizen, and currently enrolled at Hiram College or Kent State University with at least junior class standing. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

Bailey Simons- Frank Family Memorial Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a Rootstown High School senior student. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $500.

Mark Klima Memorial Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a Rootstown High School senior student. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

Bernie J. Kosar Crestwood Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a Crestwood High School senior student. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $200.

George L. and Genevieve D. Moore Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to an Aurora High School senior student. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

Frances A. Patterson Memorial Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a Portage County High School senior student active in an Ohio 4-H Horse Program. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $200.

PCCAN Endowed Scholarship

Awarded to a Ravenna High School senior. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $200.

Anna Wang Roe Women in Science Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a female Theodore Roosevelt High School senior student interested in science, technology, engineering, or math. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

Boyd and Joan Wallbrown Agricultural Innovation Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to Ohio High School senior students (including seniors at Rugby High School, Rugy N.D. and Leeds High School, Leeds N.D.) choosing to pursue their education leading to a career in agricultural production, crop production, or livestock/farm animals. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

Bill and Eddye White Bowling Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to high school senior students who were members of their high school bowling team. The scholarship is open to students at Rootstown, Crestwood, Garfield, Ravenna, Southeast, Streetsboro, and Theodore Roosevelt high schools. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $500.

Darla Winnefeld Memorial Endowed Scholarship

 – Awarded to a Rootstown High School senior student. The number of scholarships vary. The approximate annual scholarship award is: $1,000.

George L. and Genevieve D. Moore Family Endowed Scholarship – Renewal

The Aurora High School graduate applicant must have received this award initially and remain enrolled in either a two-year or four-year degree program at an accredited college, university or technical school and remain in good academic standing to receive the scholarship renewal award.
